Artist Statement

"Pink Peonies in Brass" by Scarlett Fleming

When I was a young girl, my mom would surprise me each spring with a bouquet of her gorgeous peonies and roses.  She would arrange them in a ceramic bowl and pitcher set she had made and place them on the old white dresser (that she had salvaged from her parent's garage and refurbished) in my room.  My love of flowers, especially pink peonies and roses, stems directly from the love my mother shared with me through the simple nuturing gestures she showed me every day, like arranging flowers to bring some beauty directly into my world.
