Artist Statement

"Sanctuary" by Michael Jarman

Our daughter, Nicole, is an avid knitter. On an occasional evening she will come over and join her mother in weaving yarn into scarves. The quiet cadence of their clicking needles under the soft lamplight creates a magical ambiance. These shared minutes become their “sanctuary” of peaceful contemplation. I couldn’t resist attempting to capture Nicole’s tranquil concentration and somehow express the sweet sanctity of the moment.
