Artist Statement

"Mack Truck Door Detail" by Ashley Mortenson

"Mack Truck Door Detail" from an abandoned Mack truck found in a field. The mirror shadow created a wonderful shape on the door which had multiple layers of faded, flaking paint. I loved the rust and colorful paint juxtaposing with the chrome handle, and how the colors changed depending on if they were in light or shadow.

"A Passage in Time"- this is a detail from the side doors from an abandoned car by the side of the road. I was captivated by the textures and the Z form of the doorjamb/side chrome. You can faintly see the reflections of houses, trees, the sky, and there's a self portrait of sorts in there.
